During weaving 2022, the handicraft consultants / developers in Sweden hold workshops for children and
young people on the theme of weaving. With simple tools and methods, children and young people can meet
the weaving in an inspiring environment where creativity can flow.

EXPERIMENT WEAVE

What happens when young people are supplied with rigid heddle looms and given free rein to shape, create and curate an exhibition?  Well, that’s what Kultur in Halland – Craft wanted to find out!

A small group of young people from Halland, aged 13 to 25, were therefore assigned the task.  The exhibition will only be shown at the Fair, when the public will also be able to meet some of the makers there to talk about what they have woven.

IN MY WOVEN WORLD

A digital show where children and young people get to plan, weave and photograph their woven responses to what there is IN MY WOVEN WORLD.  This show can be followed on Instagram and the Facebook page for Kultur I Halland – Slöjd as well as on this campaign page.

Would you like to take part in this show?  Send in your entries to arrive by the last day of August.  More info on what to do on the Kultur I Halland – Slöjd home page.

CRAFTWORK WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Do you need a few tips about doing craft with children and young people?  Kultur I Halland – Slöjd’s home page features videos showing how the Hej Slöjd project all went.  You can hear more about how the children, teachers and supervisors experienced the project and see a guided tour of the show.

FREE TIME IS TIME FOR MAKING

What is the Convention on the Rights of the Child?  And what might a football team be doing with craft?  For the conference on Free Time = Time for Making, Kultur i Halland – Slöjd invited in reps from a range of projects with the focus on children and young people to attend a day conference that was then filmed so that others could have the benefit of good examples geared towards children and young people.  See the film here:
