VMT, West Swedish Design and Textile Artists, was established in 1959 and is a not-for-profit, non-political association for professional artists.  While its headquarters are in Gothenburg, the association is open to textile artists from all parts of the country.  To apply for membership in VMT,  a textiles degree completed within the last 10 years from HDK, Konstfack, Steneby, the Swedish School of Textiles, Beckmans or an equivalent training is required. There are currently ca 100 members in the association, all of whom have a solid grounding and expertise in the field of textile art and whose work spans the ultra fine and sheer to dense and weighty, narrative imagery to objects and installations. Exhibitions represent a major part of the association’s activities and we have put on many group shows over the years, at museums and art galleries all round Sweden.  The three most recent shows revolved around the theme of TIME:  Varbergs Konsthall 2014, Ronneby Konsthall 2016 and Rydals museum 2019-2020.
